This food cart, a hidden gem in the heart of the city, serves up a unique blend of flavors that transport you to the streets of Xinjiang, China. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, the flavors here are sure to leave a lasting impression.

The first thing that grabs your attention when you arrive is the aroma. As you approach the cart, you can smell the smoky scent of grilling meats mingling with spices, creating an irresistible invitation to try what’s on offer. The menu is relatively simple but packed with options that reflect the traditional flavors of Xinjiang BBQ, which is known for its bold spices and tender, perfectly grilled meats.

One of the standout dishes here is the lamb skewers. Marinated in a blend of cumin, chili, and other spices, the lamb comes out with just the right amount of char from the grill, giving it a rich, smoky flavor. The meat is juicy and tender, falling off the skewer with ease, which makes each bite a delicious treat. The spice level is just right, adding a satisfying heat that doesn’t overpower the natural flavors of the lamb.

Another must-try at Young Xinjiang Bbq Cart is the chicken wings. These wings are marinated for hours, which means each piece is bursting with flavor. Grilled to perfection, the skin is crispy and slightly charred, while the inside remains moist and flavorful. Served with a dusting of cumin and chili flakes, these wings are a spicy, savory delight that’s hard to put down.

If you're in the mood for something a little different, the beef skewers are a great alternative. The beef is tender and packed with flavor, offering a balance of savory and spice that’s characteristic of Xinjiang cuisine. Each skewer is generously seasoned, giving it a robust taste that pairs perfectly with a cold drink on a warm New York day.

The beauty of Young Xinjiang Bbq Cart lies in its simplicity and quality. The owner, who’s been perfecting the art of Xinjiang BBQ for years, ensures that each dish is cooked to perfection. You won’t find any shortcuts here-the meat is always fresh, and the spices are carefully measured to bring out the best in each dish. It’s clear that this cart is a labor of love, and the care put into each skewer is evident in the taste.

One of the things that sets this food cart apart from other street food vendors in the area is the authentic taste. Many other places offer variations of BBQ, but the flavors at Young Xinjiang Bbq Cart are the real deal. The spices, the grilling method, and the type of meat used all come together to create a truly authentic experience. If you're used to the more common American-style BBQ or other regional BBQ styles, this will feel like a whole new world of flavor.

  • Great food cart, great barbecue skewers. Cash only. $2.50 for a skewer is a steal. Tasty seasoning, kind of like a dry spice. Get it spicy just do it! I got the pork skewer Chicken wing skewer Shrimp skewer Eggplant skewer I might pass on the shrimp one as it was a bit dry or overcooked and the eggplant which is a bit wetter for my taste. Next time, would love to try their sweet potato skewer

  • Small simple street cart - selling a small variety of soft drinks and a pretty decent amount of skewers. We ordered the beef, chicken, lamb and Chinese chives. All were good. Our favorites were the chicken and Chinese chives (which were wrapped in bacon). For inexpensive, quick and flavorful street food this is a must place to go. Not the cleanest part of the neighborhood. I didn’t choose to go here for the ambiance, just the value and food. I recommend this spot.

  • The best Chinese bbq in Manhattan! Sm better than any bbq skewers I’ve had at any restaurants. The cumin is just right and if u can handle spice definitely ask them to add it!!! My favorites are the beef tendon, chicken, and king oyster mushrooms.

  • Some actual Chinese BBQ in Manhattan! I got two chicken, two lamb and one mushroom. I like the chicken and the mushroom but was not a fan of the lamb - not very fresh so it got that special taste of lamb, which I don’t enjoy. The way they cook is traditional. The seasoning they used was right. The food was a little burned on the outside but they cut those parts off before handing the food over(wrapped in alumni foil if you ordered a bunch). Price is cheap, and no seat. Overall a nice surprise.

  • I recommend this restaurant to everyone now. This place doesn't overcharge. Nice employee interactions. Their menu items taste wonderful. I'm completely sold on this spot and you will be too.

  • I had high expectations, and I hadnt had Chinese lamb skewers for more than half a year, and I was worried it would fail my expectations. The smell from the cart was great, the smell of the skewers when we got then was very legit, and one bite into them and I was in food heaven! I have a soft spot for lamb skewers, I love the seasoning (slightly spicy). Ordered 8 lamb, 2 chicken and 2 pork for 2 people. Ended up only eating 3 lamb 1 pork and 1 chicken, they're quite big (American size I guess). They werent identical to the ones I've eaten before, I ate it most in South Korea, but they're so delicious in their own way. $1.75 per skewer for most of the meat types, I attached a photo of the new price list since it seems the price went up a bit. Still totally worth it, and I think they deserve the raise, given he hard work it is to grill meats all night long. I'd only add that the pork one is very fatty, so abstain in you have high cholesterol or trying to watch your weight. Cant wait to try some other meats next time!
